Frame Making Workshop - July
When: July 19-21
Where: Corner Optical, 1527 Waukegan Road, Glenview, IL 60025
Master the Craft of Eyewear with Corner Optical
At Corner Optical, we don’t just make glasses—we craft them. With over thirty years in the eyecare industry and almost a decade of teaching eyewear design and production, we’re here to take you through what it takes to create exceptional frames.
In this workshop, you’ll gain the skills to make a lasting impact in the world of eyewear. Whether you’re an optician, a manager, a designer-in-the-making, or someone with a passion for craftsmanship, this course gives you the foundation to bring your vision to life.
We begin with Adobe Illustrator, a simple yet powerful tool that lets you quickly sketch your design ideas in a 2D environment. This is where your creativity flows freely—refining shapes, experimenting with proportions, and laying the groundwork for the frames you envision.
Once your 2D design is dialed in, we take it into Autodesk Fusion 360, where your sketches evolve into precise, fully realized 3D models. Here, you’ll sculpt, refine, and prepare your designs for the next stage—turning them from a concept into something real.
From there, we bring those designs to life with CNC machining—cutting, shaping, and refining raw materials with almost effortless accuracy. This is where engineering meets artistry.
Then, we take things up a notch. You’ll be introduced to the tools and techniques used in bespoke eyewear production, learning the secrets behind the finishing touches that make a pair of glasses more than just a frame—they become an extension of personal style.
And because great eyewear isn’t just about aesthetics, you’ll also explore the mechanics of hinge design, uncovering the geometry and precision that transform a simple hinge into a perfectly balanced, high-performance feature.
This isn’t just a course—it’s an invitation into the world of handcrafted eyewear. Welcome to Corner Optical, where design meets craftsmanship.
